TACHYCARDIA

Tachycardia, also known as Tachyarrhythmia, is a medical condition that describes an abnormally rapid, resting heart rate. It occurs when the electrical impulses controlling the heart rhythm are disrupted by an outside variable. This variable can range from exercise, to smoking, or even stress, and it causes the heart rate to skyrocket above 100bpm.
This results in chest pain.
When the heart beats too quickly, the body's organs and tissues do not receive enough oxygen to sustain themselves, and thus, tachycardia also results in dizziness, lightheadedness and shortness of breath.

In other words, you are left tofeel as though you are completely incapacitated.
As a new nursing student, I know that my journey ahead will be full of exciting twists, fantastical turns and bottomless potholes. As arduous as some of these obstacles may seem, my goal is to never allow them to restrict me.
I hope to be able to put each challenge I approach into perspective, and to continue moving forward, regardless of how detrimental they may appear to be. This blog serves to both document my adventures as a nursing student, and to remind myself that in the midst of difficulty, it is important to take a deep breath and smile.
I write this now so that when I feel totally incapacitated, I can look back and say to myself, "don't be tachy!"
